Introduction

Architecture is the science and the art of building. The totality of the built environment as architecture, and the environment as a form of dialogue with the past and future are ideas that underlie this book. Architecture is understood to be the whole of the human-built environment, including buildings, cities, urban spaces, and created landscapes.
